Adolescence is a time of intense self-discovery, a period of experimentation and learning where individuals define what truly matters to them. Arbo weaves together portraits, landscapes, and still life in a photographic series that captures the lives of young Poles drawn to careers in the forest and wood industry who attend a vocational school in Garbatka Letnisko, small town in central Poland. Seeking to move beyond headlines and stereotypes, I was drawn to the passion and dedication of these teenagers as they navigate a pivotal stage of life—shaping their identities and pursuing aspirations within a historically rich yet evolving sector of Polish industry. Ultimately, this body of work examines the intricate relationship between humans and their environment, juxtaposing modern perspectives with one of the world’s oldest and most traditional trades.
